In early 1965, the Odawara Factory was devoted
mainly to aromatic chemical production. In
1967, the Nippon Monopoly Corporation decided to switch the
substantial portion of its
cigarette raw materials to American blends, and our company
together with five to six
competitors was requested to develop flavoring elements.
In response to this, the company
established R&D facilities and a production plant to fulfill the request,
while it decided to
construct a set of production plants covering flavor and
fruit processing, extraction,
concentration, power production, etc.
R&D capability
In 1967, the company built a two-storied building
to renovate its laboratory facilities and
renamed it the Research Center. It also began sending
employees to several universities to
obtain degrees. As a result, 12 employees became
doctors within the subsequent 10-year
period and five of them still devote themselves to
specialized research activities.
The company also established an R&D laboratory in Nishi-funabashi,
where 15 researchers,
five for fragrance and ten for flavor, are engaged
in research activities.
Present organization and system
Although our company was based in Nihonbashi-honcho
for 50 years after the war, it moved
to its own building located at the present address
in Kakigaracho in 1995. In Osaka, it has a
sales office in Hiranocho.
